Germany's biggest supermarket chain, EDEKA, puts Party Bugs' edible insect snacks on its shelves.
• The local merchants
• The seven regional wholesale companies
• The EDEKA headquarters in Hamburg
3,700 self-employed merchants belong to EDEKA. They give EDEKA a face all over Germany and take on the local retailer’s role at the retail level, which stands for food quality and enjoyment. As members of the regional cooperatives, they are often the owners of their respective regional companies. Together with the EDEKA headquarters, the merchants are involved in all strategic decisions of the EDEKA network. The influence of the independent EDEKA merchants runs like a red thread through the entire EDEKA network.
EDEKA competes with high-quality products and an extensive product range. EDEKA’s prices are above average in Germany.
Next Party Bugs concentrates on extending its product range to mealworms and negotiations with high-end German supermarkets like Kaufland, real, METRO, REWE, Globus, HIT, Tegut, and organic & health supermarkets denn’s Biomarkt and Alnatura. Later Party Bugs may even enter Aldi, Lidl, Netto, Norma, and Penny discount supermarkets. But that is another story.
